The Dutchman has failed to make any impact since joining Man United in September 2020. He has made just 57 appearances in total, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
The appointment of Erik ten Hag, who worked with Van de Beek at Ajax, was expected to revive the midfielder's career at Old Trafford, but he fell short of expectations. He has only appeared in 7 matches in all competitions this season.

Van de Beek loves to play at Old Trafford.
But despite the difficulties, Van de Beek still spoke passionately about the Red Devils fans. He told the club's homepage: "An Old Trafford full of people, I cannot explain. It was a pleasant experience and a pleasant feeling."
"That [being sung by the fans] always gives you confidence and a good feeling, gives a good feeling that they like me. I try to give them as much as I can."
"Most of the time, it's a great atmosphere in the stadium, when we play at home. And the away fans too."
